E cigarettes banned!
Not in the UK! Which is great news for us here. Over in the States, and several other countries, the future of e-cigs is not looking to great.
Back in January of this year, 2021, the US announced a ban on mint and fruit flavoured e-liquids that come in cartridge-based pods.
Other countries, including Brazil, India and South Korea have also seen bans across a range of e-liquids too. Even China, a hub of great vaping kits has announced restrictions across vaping paraphernalia.
E Cig issues
Issues raised leading to these restrictions, or bans, are cited to be from concern amongst young vapers. With manufacturers being deemed as targeting youngsters with their advertising assets. What they then adjudge for leading to many youngsters becoming addicted to vape juice. Though, not great, it is an understandable measure to counteract young people becoming attracted to smoking.
This is terrible for the older generation, in these countries where bans are occurring, who may be looking for a genuine alternative to cigarettes.
The cigarette alternative
Though no official recognition has been passed, the US administration are allowing sales to continue, so people looking for a smoking alternative have something to turn to.
Research has been conducted here in the UK, with ongoing surveys and measures being examined on the impact of vaping. Due to recent developments with regards to Covid19, many surveys into the world of vaping here in the UK, have been hindered.
Though, looking at the most recent surveys in vape usage amongst the young, vaping to quit smoking is still at a good level. This comes as no real surprise for the many adults who use vaping to quit the cigarettes.
The UK study goes on further to conclude that vaping within the younger population has remained at a constant level in recent years. Though, they do clearly state, that more research is needed to assess the socio-economic impact along with the differences in harm caused by cigarettes compared to vaping.
Based on these studies, there is a strong indication that vaping is becoming a standard for many who wish to quit cigarettes. The most recent study also concludes that long term vaping is on the increase among adults. Though, as many vapers know, it is not all about quitting. Many find vaping enjoyable and appreciate the various flavours available, even without nicotine added.
With these studies it seems obvious that an e-cig ban in the UK would not be beneficial to anyone. Public Health England also state that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking cigarettes. The NHS have also clearly stated that they recommend vaping an aid to quit smoking. The sentiment is also fiercely backed by the Independent British Vape Trade Association (IBVTA) who recently put out a statement fully dismissing that the UK is in any danger of banning vaping equipment, along with the variety of e-liquids available.
We hope this goes someway in allaying the feats that vaping will become a no no within the UK.
