E Liquid Mixing Kits
Mixing kits for producing e-liquid or vape juice as it's commonly known within the vaping crowd, are not complex pieces of kit. E Liquid mixing kits comprise of basic materials, so don't be intimidated at the thought of mixing your own e-liquid.
To start putting your e-liquids together you will need the following items:
Base Liquid
Combining PG and VG to varying measures will give varying vape juice flavour and cloud production results. You will need both base liquids as these are the two vital ingredients for your e-liquid.
An e-liquid with a higher VG ratio will create a greater vape cloud with a smoother draw. The higher VG ratio liquids are a feature of Sub-Ohm e-liquids whilst a liquid with a higher PG ratio will give a stronger throat hit, and an emboldened juice flavour.
Flavour Concentrates
There is a wide range of e-liquid concentrates to choose from, sweet to savoury and all kind of other flavours are widely available.
This is the great thing about mixing your own e-liquid, you can experiment and create your own favourite flavour, using your own methods. A good concentrate can be used to make an endless supply of your favourite liquid, enjoy discovering your own.
Accessory Kit
Your kit should comprise of the essentials for measuring out your concentrates and base liquids. A 1ml and 5ml syringe is perfect for making yourself some home-made e-liquids to sample. 10ml Plastic bottles are a must for mixing and storing. A mixing beaker will help, especially if you are making a bigger batch.
Over time your kit will develop, and you will get more used to the methods of mixing and storing, with the more you do.
Nicotine, as an optional extra
Nicotine liquid is available in pure unflavoured form, it is usually added to shortfills which allow room for a nicotine shot. Nicotine strength you require can be calculated and added to your e-liquid mix.
E-Liquid Mixing Kit Guide
We have done this for you below. We have a bunch of e-liquid recipes you can follow, where you can apply these mixing techniques.
The E-Liquid Mixing Kit Guide
Mixing e-liquid is a simple process, here's an example of just a few of the items we use to produce 10ml bottles of e-liquid, for our own use:
Concentrate
For us, the whole point is to create a flavour we enjoy. So, the flavour concentrate is essential to making the perfect e-liquid. Personally, fruit flavours in the morning and afternoon are pleasant. The evening we favour a more savoury hit. Whatever your preference, focus on a concentrate you feel you will enjoy, when you intend to use it. E-Liquid Mixing
Depending on the recipe, we will usually start with the PG and VG liquids, mixing a 70 to 30 ratio of VG and PG respectively. How much ml is used depends on how much e-liquid you wish to create. For this guide we shall use a 10ml total e-liquid production, for the example.
Most calculators favour an output of 1ml concentrate for flavour in a 10ml bottle, depending on the vape concentrates strength. Strong concentrates, such as Blackjack need only a 10 - 12 % to obtain the unique taste. Other flavours will come with a 20% recommendation, which is what we favour. As we believe this gives a good indication of the flavour’s intent, it's not hiding behind the VG or PG.
If you were to prefer a more PG focused e-liquid, you'll need to up the PG ratio against VG, not the e-liquid concentrates. Stronger PG based liquids give a harsher throat hit, but are more flavour focused. Again, a high PG preference is great for some flavours, the zestier flavours, such as lemon sherbet will create a harsher hit when they've a high PG level. This is great for the recent giver-upper of cigarettes, who desires the strong throat to ease the transition away.
Mixing Method
The method is simple, acquire an empty 10ml bottle, use the 1ml syringe to measure out low volume liquid, or the 5ml syringe measure for the PG and VG. When extracted place them together in the empty 10ml bottle. Once the PG, VG and chosen concentrate are in the bottle, shake it for at least two minutes.
Steeping
Steeping isn't always necessary but favoured by many as a way of enhancing the liquid with the chosen concentrate. Fruit based e-liquid concentrates are often ready to go, whilst a pudding concentrate may need some time to combine with the base concentrates.
Once we have our 10ml bottle filled with our e-liquid mix, after giving it a good shake, we place it in a darkened cupboard, we usually aim for three days but often try it out after two, and often find it to be perfect.
When steeping your e-liquid, ensure the lid of the bottle is off, and the cupboard isn't disturbed during the steeping process. Test it after two days, and if good then fantastic! If not too flavoursome, then leave it for another 24 hours. Some suggest leaving liquid to steep for seven days, try it out and see what you prefer.
And that's it! You have made yourself your free batch of e-liquid, saving yourself a couple of pounds at the same time.
